A 14-year-old junior high school student has been arrested for allegedly stealing merchandise from a clothing store in Nagoya’s Osu district and punching a man who tried to stop him, causing serious injuries including facial fractures.
The arrested individual is a 14-year-old male junior high school student with no fixed address. According to police, the student is suspected of robbery and assault for stealing one down vest from a clothing store in Osu 3-chome, Nakaku around 7 p.m. the day before yesterday, and then punching a 33-year-old male store employee from a nearby shop who tried to stop him, causing serious injuries including facial fractures.
The student fled the scene but turned himself in at a Nagoya police station early this morning.
During police questioning, he partially denied the allegations, stating “I didn’t steal anything, but it’s true that I punched someone and ran away.” Additionally, another person believed to be an accomplice has also turned himself in at a different police station, where police are questioning him about the incident.
