On the morning of the 1st, a woman and a young boy were found dead in a room of an apartment complex in Okazaki City, Aichi Prefecture. The two are believed to be mother and child, and police are investigating the possibility of a murder-suicide.

According to police and fire department officials, around 9:00 a.m. on the 1st, a report was made to the police by a government agency employee stating, “We received an email from a resident hinting at suicide, so we would like you to check the scene.”

When police officers rushed to the scene, they found a boy around 2–3 years old lying on a futon, and a woman in her 30s hanging by the neck. Both were already deceased.

The room was completely locked, and the entrance door had a chain lock fastened. The two are believed to be mother and child, and based on the circumstances at the scene, police are investigating the cause of death and other details, considering the possibility of a murder-suicide.
