The plan to build a new arena in Toyohashi City, Aichi Prefecture, which received majority support in a July referendum.

The arena, to be built in Toyohashi Park with a capacity of 5,000 people, is moving forward with discussions between the city and the operator to resume the project following the referendum results.

A supplementary budget proposal, which includes a two-year extension of the project period, was submitted to the September regular session of the Toyohashi City Council and passed with majority support.

The opening of the new arena, originally scheduled for October 2027, is now expected to take place in fiscal year 2029.

Based on the council’s decision, Toyohashi City will sign a revised contract with the operator to determine the schedule for resuming construction and future plans. Additionally, costs associated with the project suspension, for which the total amount has not been clarified, will be discussed as claims are submitted.
