In Mie Prefecture today, 14 people were hospitalized with suspected heatstroke.
Among them, in Owase City, a passerby discovered an elderly woman in her 80s collapsed on the street after 2 p.m. and called emergency services.
The woman was unconscious when transported to a local hospital, where her death was later confirmed.
