On July 5, before the opening of the 107th National Championship East Tournament, a referee training session was held at Horikoshi Stadium on the 15th, attended by about 110 people.

The training first reviewed the basic movements of making decisions. Instructions such as “For ‘out’, hit the wall with your elbow as the pivot point” and “Say ‘safe’ instead of ‘safe’ to bring sharpness to the voice” were given, after which everyone repeated the movements together.

A 19-year-old university student, who is joining the tournament for the first time and dreams of becoming a professional baseball referee, said, “Since I was a child, I thought the dignified appearance of referees was cool. I want to make authoritative judgments in the tournament.” A 71-year-old head of the referee committee commented, “For the players, it is the culmination of summer. We want to enforce convincing and correct decisions.”
