TANGERANG – A tornado disaster that struck Rawa Boni Village, Pakuhaji District, Tangerang Regency, has left the local residents in mourning.
The incident, which occurred on Monday afternoon, damaged dozens of homes to varying degrees.
The Head of Emergency and Logistics at the Tangerang Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) stated that three villages in Pakuhaji were affected by the disaster. However, the worst-hit village was Rawa Boni in Pakuhaji.
“A total of 42 houses were affected by the tornado. The damage ranged from minor to severe,” he said.
Antimah (50), a resident who was among the victims, suffered a leg injury requiring 50 stitches. “I was injured in my leg—it needed 50 stitches. My child immediately took me to the nearest clinic,” she said when met at the scene.
Just before the incident, she recalled sitting on her porch around 5:00 PM. Suddenly, strong winds made it difficult for her to escape, causing her to fall and be struck by asbestos.
“I was sitting when suddenly a huge wind came. I tried to go inside but was hit by asbestos,” she said.
