PKK cadres from Tangerang City are seen preparing food for flood victims in Periuk.

TANGERANG – Although the floodwaters in the Periuk District area have begun to recede, PKK cadres from Tangerang City continue to volunteer their help to residents.

One of the activities of these PKK cadres is providing food supplies to residents affected by the flood.

The PKK City of Tangerang community kitchen is still operating and continuously distributing food aid.

This was evident as the PKK women, united since morning, cooked various menu items to be distributed to residents.

“Come on, ladies, let’s cook with enthusiasm. Fan the rice so it cools down quickly. The faster we pack it, the better, because the residents are surely waiting,” said Tangerang Mayor Arief R Wismansyah, while inspecting the location of the PKK City of Tangerang community kitchen on Friday (7/2).

Arief also immediately instructed several members of KONI, whose location is close to the community kitchen, to assist.

“Where are the KONI members? Everyone, jump in and help the ladies cook,” he invited.

Since its first day of operation on Tuesday (4/2), the PKK City of Tangerang community kitchen has distributed thousands of packaged rice meals and other forms of assistance.

“So now, even though the flood has receded, we are still continuing to distribute aid. Because residents are surely focused on post-flood management, cleaning their homes,” said the Chairperson of the PKK City of Tangerang, Aini Suci Wismansyah, who was also present at the community kitchen location on that occasion.

Aini hopes that the aid distributed from the PKK community kitchen can ease the burden on flood victims whose homes are still uninhabitable.

“This is already the fourth day. Every day we usually distribute 1,600 to 2,000 packaged rice meals. There is also other aid, such as baby diapers, milk, and baby food. Thank God, donations keep coming in, and we immediately distribute them,” added Aini.

She hopes that the situation will return to normal soon, and residents can resume their activities as before.
