The government has begun discussing a plan to adjust the Maximum Retail Price (HET) of the cooking oil brand Minyakita. Currently, the HET remains at 15,700 Indonesian rupiah per liter and has not changed in several years.

The Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs, Zulkifli Hasan, stated that the proposed increase is still in the proposal stage and has not been decided.

“Recently, Minyakita has not had an adjustment for a long time. The Minister of Trade proposed an adjustment, but I asked for calculations first. I requested BPKP and several related agencies to calculate everything, and then we will hold a special meeting,” said Zulhas.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Trade, Budi Santoso, stated that his team will follow the directive to conduct further studies before making a decision.

“The direction was to discuss it first. We will discuss it, and then hold another limited meeting,” he said.

According to Budi, the proposal for an increase arose because the price of Minyakita has not been adjusted for a long time, so it is considered necessary to review it to align with current conditions.

“We see, what is it called, it’s been a long time. What year was that? It’s been more than 3 years, right? 15,700 rupiah, everything must be adjusted,” he said.

Nevertheless, the government has not revealed the amount of the proposed increase. The calculation will be carried out with several parties before a final decision is made.
