Four toy storage warehouses in the Pergudangan Pantai Indah Dadap area, Kosambi District, Tangerang Regency, Banten, were completely destroyed by fire on Monday night.
The fire, which occurred at 7:30 PM local time, was confirmed by authorities.
“Yes, a warehouse containing children’s toys and plastic materials was completely burned down on Monday night,” said a fire official.
Observations at the location around 11:30 PM local time showed six fire trucks attempting to extinguish the blaze.
“Thirty personnel from the Tangerang Regency Disaster Management Agency were deployed with assistance from the Jakarta Fire Department,” the official stated.
Meanwhile, several employees and local residents were seen struggling to save items from inside the warehouse.
Piles of toys were immediately moved to another warehouse to prevent them from catching fire. Additionally, some factory documents were also carried out.
When asked about the cause of the fire, authorities could not yet confirm. However, preliminary suspicions point to a short circuit or electrical issue. “Because when we became aware, there was already fire in the toy warehouse,” the official emphasized.
Almost three hours later, the fire had not been fully extinguished by personnel. Besides the narrow terrain, water was difficult to access at the location, plus the burning materials were made of plastic which is highly flammable.
“We’re having some difficulties at the location because water is hard to reach,” the official concluded.
