BANTEN – The Provincial Government of Banten ensures that the supply of basic necessities ahead of the 2025 Christmas and 2026 New Year holidays is in a safe and controlled condition.
This guarantee is provided to curb potential price increases in the market due to rising demand. The Regional Secretary of Banten Province emphasized that the Provincial Government, together with the Regional Inflation Control Team and district and city governments, has prepared various comprehensive strategies. These efforts aim to maintain the availability, smooth distribution, and price stability of strategic commodities.
“For example, strengthening local government food stockpiles and reserves, including commodities such as rice, chili, shallots, eggs, and meat,” stated the Regional Secretary, while opening the High-Level Meeting on Strategic Inflation Control Optimization at the Bank Indonesia Representative Office of Banten Province, Wednesday (10/12).
To anticipate price fluctuations, the Banten Provincial Government has and will continue to intensify several policies, including implementing cheap market operations and massive affordable food movements in eight districts and cities.
Conducting daily price monitoring through the Regional Inflation Control Team so that rapid response policies can be immediately taken. Strengthening coordination with distributors and supply chains to ensure smooth distribution and avoid hoarding practices. Supervising the quality, safety, and traceability of products in both traditional and modern markets.
Encouraging Increased Local Production
Furthermore, the push for increased local production through farmer assistance, provision of agricultural production facilities, and expansion of planting areas is encouraged as a long-term solution to maintain supply.
It was emphasized that food stability is one of the Provincial Government’s main priorities, especially as the holiday season is synonymous with a surge in demand. Challenges from uncertain weather conditions, which have the potential to disrupt the food supply distribution process, were also highlighted.
“Efforts to maintain food stability are not just an annual routine task, but part of our endeavor to improve community welfare, curb inflation, and ensure that all residents of Banten can welcome Christmas and the New Year safely, comfortably, and with full joy,” it was explained.
All stakeholders were called upon to strengthen communication, coordination, and collaboration, making food stability a joint movement.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Head of the BI Banten Representative Office added that BI Banten, together with the Regional Inflation Control Team, continues to be vigilant about the trend of price increases for several commodities ahead of the holidays.
Although Banten is reported to have a rice surplus, it was explained that several other commodities still depend on supplies from outside the region. This makes logistics routes a crucial factor in price formation.
“Because price formation comes from logistics routes,” it was concluded, emphasizing the importance of maintaining smooth transportation of supplies. The Banten Provincial Government is optimistic that through close cross-sectoral cooperation, the availability, affordability, and price stability of food for the people of Banten can be maintained during the 2025 Christmas and 2026 New Year period.
