For the first time in the history of the Russian state, a decree has been signed to create a unified system of state monitoring of permafrost. The corresponding document was published on the official portal of legal information. The head of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Alexander Kozlov, stated earlier that the system will allow for the creation of a unified database of the state of permafrost across the entire country.

The decree establishes the creation of a network of observation points that will collect data on the temperature and thickness of permafrost. This data will be used to assess the impact of climate change on infrastructure in the Arctic region. The system is expected to become operational by 2025.
