Residents of East Java will receive a special gift on the 80th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia. The East Java Provincial Government is offering free Trans Jatim rides for two full days, August 17–18, 2025.

This news was announced directly by the Governor of East Java. According to the governor, this policy is a form of appreciation for the public and an invitation to celebrate independence in a fun way.

“For two days, the public will not be charged any fare—it’s completely free, except for premium services. This is our gift for the Independence Day celebration, which comes only once a year,” the governor stated.

The governor encouraged residents to take advantage of this opportunity to travel with family or friends. Moreover, the dates coincide with a national holiday, making it a perfect time to enjoy Trans Jatim or explore tourist destinations without worrying about transportation costs.

Strategic Routes, Access to Many Tourist Spots

Trans Jatim operates six corridors connecting various cities and regencies:

Corridor I: Sidoarjo – Surabaya – Gresik

Corridor II: Mojokerto – Surabaya

Corridor III: Mojokerto (Kertajaya Terminal) – Gresik (Bunder Terminal)

Corridor IV: Gresik (Bunder Terminal) – Lamongan (Paciran)

Corridor V: Surabaya – Bangkalan (Madura)

Corridor VI: Kertajaya Terminal Mojokerto – Porong Terminal Sidoarjo

Trans Jatim

“Trans Jatim” (Trans Jawa Timur) is a bus rapid transit (BRT) system in East Java, Indonesia, designed to improve public transportation across the province. Launched in 2021, it connects major cities like Surabaya, Malang, and Jember, offering affordable and efficient travel. The system reflects Indonesia’s efforts to modernize infrastructure and reduce traffic congestion in densely populated regions.

Sidoarjo

Sidoarjo is a regency in East Java, Indonesia, known for its historical significance as part of the ancient Majapahit Kingdom. Today, it is often associated with the devastating “Lusi” mud flow disaster, which began in 2006 and displaced thousands of residents. Gresik

Mojokerto

The region contains archaeological sites, such as Trowulan, which was the empire’s capital, featuring ruins of temples, pools, and gates. Lamongan

Lamongan is a regency in East Java, Indonesia, known for its coastal landscapes, cultural heritage, and religious sites. Historically, it was part of the Majapahit Kingdom and later became an important Islamic center, home to the revered *Sunan Drajat*, one of Java’s nine Islamic saints (Wali Songo). Madura
