A Colt Diesel truck with license plate BK 8509 FE collided with a Honda Vario motorcycle with license plate BB 5570 BN on the Tarutung-Sipirok Trans-Sumatra Highway, at KM 07-08, Pansur Napitu Village, Siatas Barita District, North Tapanuli Regency, around 6:00 PM.

The Colt Diesel truck hit the motorcycle rider, resulting in 3 fatalities.

The three deceased victims were siblings. The motorcycle was ridden by one sibling carrying their two younger siblings, all residents of Simasom Nagodang, Simasom Village, Pahae Julu District, North Tapanuli.

Police investigation at the scene determined that the accident occurred because the Colt Diesel truck was traveling at high speed from Sipirok towards Tarutung, while the motorcycle was coming from the opposite direction.

At the exact location of the incident, the truck was traveling at high speed while attempting to overtake another vehicle ahead of it, causing it to cross into the opposite lane. Meanwhile, the motorcycle was traveling in the opposite direction.

After being hit by the truck, the three victims suffered facial lacerations, head impact injuries, a broken right leg, waist lacerations, and leg abrasions. One sibling died at the scene, while the other two siblings died several hours later after receiving treatment at Tarutung General Hospital.

“The Traffic Police Unit has secured the truck driver and both vehicles involved in the collision as evidence for investigation. The three victims have been handed over to their family for burial,” said the statement.
