The Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) of Karo Regency, along with an integrated team, has sealed dozens of buildings in Berastagi, Tigapanah, and Merek districts for operating without construction permits.

The operation involved collaboration with multiple agencies, including the Public Works Department, Trade and Industry Office, Environmental Agency, and local district authorities over the past few weeks.

“The sealing process involved marking the buildings with yellow police lines and banners stating they were sealed by the Karo Regency Government,” said an official.

The sealed buildings include both unfinished constructions and completed structures, such as residential houses, built without obtaining the required permits.

Some buildings were sealed for violating permit conditions, such as exceeding approved floor limits (e.g., constructing seven floors when only four were permitted) or deviating from designated usage.

The enforcement action follows national and regional regulations, including Government Regulation No. 16/2018 on Civil Service Police, Ministerial Decrees on public order, and Karo Regency’s Local Regulation No. 02/2023 on community protection and public safety.

“This measure ensures buildings comply with legal standards, safety, health, and comfort requirements for occupants,” the official stated.

The operation also reinforces compliance with building permit regulations, urging violators to halt construction and secure proper permits immediately.
