The Head of Criminal Investigation Unit at Belawan Port Police, AKP Agus Purnomo, stated that during the act, the perpetrators threatened a security guard using sharp weapons.
“The perpetrators also threatened the security guard with sharp weapons such as arrows and a machete while carrying out their action,” said Agus Purnomo on Tuesday, April 21, 2026.
Agus said the theft occurred on Saturday, February 28, 2026, around 1:00 AM local time. At that time, the perpetrators quietly entered the school area.
The perpetrators’ actions were briefly noticed by a resident who asked about their purpose at the location. However, the group claimed they wanted to take unused items. The resident then forbade them.
“Not accepting the reprimand, the perpetrators then resisted the witness. Unable to face the perpetrators, the witness immediately contacted the school to report the incident,” he explained.
Agus mentioned that the perpetrators took several items from the school, including iron partition doors, bathroom doors, iron window grilles, iron cabinets, scrap iron, lightweight steel, and a basketball hoop. The total loss suffered by the school reached IDR 13,525,000.
Following the incident, the school filed a police report. After receiving the report, the police investigated the perpetrators and arrested one of them, identified by initials MC (32), on Jalan Lorong 7 Umum, Medan Belawan District, on Monday, April 20.
Based on the statement of perpetrator MC, the act was carried out with two of his friends who are currently still being pursued by the police.
