The karate event of the Medan City Sports Week (Porkot) XV 2025 has just completed the individual Kata matches for the U-21 and Junior boys and girls categories at the Medan Youth Arena.

On the first day, four events were completed. In the U-21 boys category, Helaka Sitepu from Medan Marelan won and secured the gold medal in the final. He defeated Hendro S from Medan Amplas and Very Andreaha Harianja (Medan Timur).

In the U-21 girls category, the gold medal was won by Natasya Arifa (Medan Tembung). The silver medal was won by Marcela Oktavia (Medan Kota) and Nur Adilla Siregar (Medan Petisah) took the bronze.

In the Junior Girls category, Kalila Putri (Medan Marelan) won gold after defeating Shela Fadila Aisyah (Medan Selayang) who had to settle for the silver medal. The bronze medal was won by Eklesia Charity Manik (Medan Marelan).

In the Junior Boys category, the gold medal was won by M Daffa (Medan Amplas), while Ahmad Ghifari (Medan Marelan) and Ali Fattah Harahap (Medan Denai) won the silver and bronze medals.

This year’s Medan Porkot karate event involved 150 male and female karatekas from all districts of Medan City. The Kata and Kumite events will continue until Monday.

The Medan KONI Chairman, who directly watched the karate event, expressed pride in the participation of young karatekas.

He hopes that this event will produce strong karatekas who can bring pride to the national stage.
