Pedestrian safety in a busy area of Depok is at risk! A member of the infrastructure commission of the Depok City Council is urging the Depok City Government to immediately revitalize the pedestrian bridge connecting Detos and Margocity.

This demand comes after the official received and personally verified numerous public complaints about the bridge’s dangerous condition.

“We have received many reports from the public. After a direct inspection, we confirmed there is a dangerous gap in a section of the bridge. This must be addressed immediately by the City Government,” the official stated after inspecting the location.

Safety of Children and Elderly is a Priority

According to the official, the lack of additional safety measures around the gaps poses a high risk to users, especially children and the elderly.

The official stressed that public safety is the top priority for any public facility and urged the Depok City Government not to delay repairs.

“This bridge is vital as it connects two major hubs. We should not wait for an accident to happen before making repairs. We demand immediate, concrete action,” the official emphasized, urging for the installation of safety features to make the bridge safe and comfortable for use again.

With regular maintenance and added safety features, this highly-trafficked pedestrian bridge is expected to serve the mobility needs of residents properly and safely.
