Former Deputy Minister of Manpower Immanuel Ebenezer has been arrested and named a suspect in a case of extortion related to occupational safety and health certification. The man, commonly referred to as Noel, is said to have demanded a share of the extortion money.

Noel requested IDR 3 billion from his subordinate, referred to as ‘sultan,’ who is the Coordinator for Institutional and Personnel of Occupational Safety and Health at the Ministry of Manpower for the years 2022-2025, Irvian Bobby Mahendro Putro (IBM). The Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission, Setyo Budiyanto, revealed that the money was used to renovate Noel’s house in Cimanggis, Depok.

“IEG (Noel) requested funds for the renovation of his house in Cimanggis, and IBM provided IDR 3 billion,” said Setyo.

In addition to the house in Cimanggis, Noel is also known to own a house in the Taman Manggis Permai housing complex, Sukamaju, Cilodong, Depok, West Java. Noel has two houses in that area. One of his houses features purple paint on its exterior.

The purple-painted house consists of two floors, with part of the upper floor using exposed brick. The lower part features a high fence enclosing the entire house, partially black and partially white. On the upper floor, trailing plants can be seen hanging down.

Approximately 500 meters from that house, in a different block, is Noel’s second house. According to sources, this house was purchased when Noel was a volunteer for the 7th President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo.

“If I’m not mistaken, the second house was bought when Noel was a volunteer for Mr. Jokowi,” said John, not his real name.

Noel’s second house appears smaller than the first. This house seems to use white paint on the walls, fence, and parts of the roof and gutters. Next to the house, there is what appears to be a birdcage.

In his LHKPN (State Officials Wealth Report), Noel is recorded as owning several plots of land and buildings in Depok, West Java. Below is the list.

1. Land and building measuring 83 m²/83 m² in Depok City/Regency, self-acquired, IDR 700,000,000

2. Land and building measuring 160 m²/160 m² in Depok City/Regency, self-acquired, IDR 1,500,000,000

3. Land and building measuring 137 m²/274 m² in Depok City/Regency, self-acquired, IDR 1,700,000,000
