Depok City –
The Mayor of Depok, Supian Suri, directly inspected flood points in Depok. He revealed solutions to address flooding in Margonda.
The inspection was conducted on Margonda Road, specifically in front of ITC Depok, on Saturday morning. This was done as a follow-up to the flooding that occurred on Friday night, which severely disrupted traffic on the main road.
Supian apologized to the public for the disruption of activities caused by the flood. He emphasized that the Depok City Government is working to find a solution to prevent similar incidents from recurring.
“We have already seen from the upstream area, there is a large culvert that we can maximize. We just need to ensure whether it is functioning or not. There are also several channel points that support the resolution of this issue,” said Supian.
He explained that in the short term, the city government will clean drainage channels clogged with trash. This effort is expected to minimize puddles during heavy rain.
“At least in the near future, if there is heavy rain again, flooding will not occur. We must first maximize the existing channels,” he said.
Supian highlighted the need for long-term program planning, including the addition of water channels at points that do not yet have dedicated drainage pathways.
“We saw earlier that there are channels where the ducting is only for cables, with no water channels. This means additional channels are needed that will later connect to the main line,” he explained.
“Once again, we apologize to the residents of Depok whose travel was hindered last night. We are striving to resolve this issue promptly,” he concluded.
