DEPOK – The municipal government of Depok is intensifying the draft plan for public space arrangement in the satellite area supporting the capital. This tactical step was carried out through an on-the-spot assessment led directly by the mayor of Depok, Supian Suri, at several strategic infrastructure points in Cinere District. This unannounced inspection aimed to map out the city’s infrastructure and facility needs for gradual execution.

In carrying out this factual verification draft, the mayor was accompanied by senior regional officials, including the head of the Environmental and Sanitation Agency, the head of the Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency, as well as local subdistrict officials.

Elevating the Quality of the Jakarta-Depok Border Corridor Road

The main sector under evaluation is Jalan Raya Cinere, a vital arterial road that marks the direct jurisdictional boundary with the Jakarta Special Capital Region. Authorities assessed that although the road’s basic structure already meets feasibility standards, periodic upgrades are needed to ensure comfort and safety for road users.

“Jalan Raya Cinere, which borders Jakarta, is already good in quality, but not yet entirely smooth. That is what we need to improve. God willing, we will work on it through the 2026 budget,” said Supian Suri after the inspection agenda.

Sequencing Solutions: Street Lighting and Drainage Recalibration

In addition to examining the road paving draft, the Depok municipal government directly responded to public complaints about the lack of public street lighting in several corridors. Technical teams were instructed to conduct a re-mapping to detect coordinate points requiring new lamp units or repairs to damaged fixtures.

Parameters for Basic Infrastructure Improvement:

  • Street Lighting Cluster: Optimizing the road lighting system to reduce potential risks of crime and nighttime traffic accidents.

  • Drainage Cluster: Normalizing and repairing several water channel points to support water discharge capacity and maintain the quality of residential environments.

Green Open Space Aesthetics: Revitalization of Urban Parks

The ecological aspect of the city was not overlooked in the intervention planning draft. Authorities confirmed a draft plan for the revitalization of a park in the Cinere area. In terms of vegetation, the quantity of trees at the site was deemed adequate, but it requires landscape architectural touches to enhance its aesthetic value and appeal as a communal public space.

“This park is one that we must improve and beautify. The trees are already quite numerous but not yet visually appealing,” said Supian Suri.

Financial Accountability Cycle: Local Revenue for Real Sector Services

At the conclusion of the inspection, the mayor reaffirmed the bureaucracy’s commitment to always be present in executing the draft expectations and real needs of citizens through strengthening public services.

The government specifically expressed high appreciation for the active contribution of Cinere residents in supporting the regional fiscal structure through fulfilling land and building tax obligations and other regional tax instruments. The revenue accumulated in the Regional Original Revenue is guaranteed to be returned fully and transparently to the community through capital expenditure for city maintenance.

“Through the payment of land and building taxes and other regional tax contributions, the local revenue we have will be maximized for public services, especially for road needs, public street lighting, and cleanliness in each subdistrict,” he concluded.
