Bekasi –
Police revealed that dozens of people fell victim to a scam in Jatisampuma, Bekasi City, West Java. The total losses in the case reached Rp 4.1 billion.
“So far, there are 77 victims, with 28 having filed police reports. The estimated losses amount to Rp 4,155,000,000,” said the Bekasi Metro Police Chief.
The fraud case began between 2023 and 2025 when the suspects, UY and K, advertised cheap rental properties and land on social media. The properties were located in Jakasampurna.
“Interested buyers were introduced by UY to K at the location. K then showed a land certificate (Girik Letter C No. 1142, Plot D1) under the name of A, convincing the victims to purchase the offered rental properties and land,” the police explained.
After an agreement was reached, the victims handed over money to K. The suspects promised that the sale and purchase deeds would be issued one month after the transaction.
“However, the documents were never issued, and the suspects kept delaying until it was discovered that the properties had been repeatedly sold to others,” the police added.
Police have arrested two women, K (48) and UY (54), in connection with the case. They face charges under Article 378 and/or Article 372 in conjunction with Article 65 of the Criminal Code, carrying a maximum penalty of 4 years in prison.
