BEKASI CITY – The Bekasi City Government will attempt to reactivate the strengthening of the Neighborhood Security System (Siskamling) in the area to maintain conduciveness and order within the community.

The Deputy Mayor of Bekasi stated that they will encourage District Heads, Village Heads, Neighborhood Units (RT), and Community Units (RW) to revitalize Siskamling activities in their areas.

“Our coordination with District Heads, Village Heads, RT, and RW aims to try to revitalize Siskamling. It is incredible; recently, when there were attempts to create unrest in Bekasi City, it was very effective because the community was on guard,” he said when met at the Bekasi City Government Plaza.

Siskamling functions as the frontline guard to prevent potential security and public order disturbances in the neighborhood.

“Nightly patrols must be conducted; we will try to coordinate with District Heads and Village Heads to ensure there are reports,” he stated.

“Later, we will organize (the patrols); we will also inform the Resort Police, Sector Police, National Unity and Political Agency, and Public Order Agency to conduct patrols. So, the patrols will be tiered,” he emphasized.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Chairman II of the Bekasi City Regional People’s Representative Council (DPRD), expressed support for revitalizing Siskamling in the area. According to him, District Heads must be able to instruct RWs to carry out Siskamling.

“The District Head instructs the RW, the Village Head monitors – it will surely work. The standard operating procedure is one-directional: through the regional head’s order for district and village heads to conduct monitoring below,” he explained.

Bekasi City Government Plaza

The Bekasi City Government Plaza is a modern civic center that serves as the administrative hub for Bekasi, one of Indonesia’s most populous and rapidly developing cities. While the plaza itself is a contemporary development, the city’s history dates back to the 5th-century Tarumanagara Kingdom, with its modern governance evolving significantly after Indonesia’s independence. Today, the plaza symbolizes the city’s growth and its commitment to public service and urban development.
