Coinciding with the commemoration of Pancasila Day, PLN UPT Bekasi launched the TJSL program Penggerak Literasi Tambun Selatan (PELITA).
This historic commemoration also serves as a momentum to strengthen the development of Indonesian people who are characterized, knowledgeable, and competitive.
Through the PELITA Program, PLN supports the strengthening of literacy culture as an important foundation in shaping a superior generation of the nation.
The General Manager of PLN Unit Induk Transmisi Jawa Bagian Tengah stated that PELITA is one of PLN UIT JBT’s efforts to strengthen literacy culture through facility development, increasing volunteer capacity, and organizing educational activities for the community.
“PELITA provides literacy access to the community by contributing to equitable access to education and knowledge. This also reflects the spirit of the Fifth Principle of Pancasila through efforts to expand literacy access and more equitable learning opportunities for the community,” he explained.
The PELITA program includes infrastructure support in the form of digital devices, library materials, educational games, as well as literacy management and digital library training and bootcamps for literacy volunteers.
In addition, PLN will also organize various educational activities such as coloring contests, children’s storytelling competitions, and video competitions themed “Invitation to Fly Kites Safely” which aim to increase creativity as well as awareness of electrical safety among the community.
The Manager of PLN UPT Bekasi stated that the PELITA Program is a manifestation of PLN’s commitment to providing sustainable benefits for the community.
“In addition to maintaining the reliability of the electric power transmission system, PLN is also committed to supporting human resource development through social programs that have a real impact. Through PELITA, we hope that literacy facilities and activities in Tambun Selatan can develop sustainably through infrastructure support, technology, and capacity building for literacy activists,” he said.
The head of Tambun Selatan district expressed his appreciation for PLN’s concern in supporting community literacy development through the PELITA Program.
According to him, synergy between the government, business sector, and community is key in creating a superior and competitive generation.
“The PELITA Program is a real manifestation of collaboration that provides direct benefits to the community, especially children and the younger generation. We appreciate PLN for not only playing a role in providing reliable electricity but also contributing to improving literacy culture and education quality in Tambun Selatan. We hope this program can run sustainably and become an inspiration for various parties to together build a smart, creative, and characterized generation,” he concluded.
