The West Java Chamber of Commerce office on Sukabumi Street, Bandung City, was visited by a crowd on Wednesday. They requested the building to be vacated before the dual leadership dispute is resolved by the central Chamber of Commerce.

The crowd consisted of members from various regions, representing the Nizar Sungkar faction. The office is allegedly occupied by administrators from the other faction, Almer Faiq. Police were seen guarding the location.

The crowd displayed banners reading “West Java Chamber of Commerce Building in Status Quo” on command vehicles and “This Building is Sealed” posters on the building fence, symbolizing that the office should not be used by any party.

The dualism occurred due to the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce’s lack of firmness in determining legitimate leadership.

“The impact of this indecisiveness is dangerous, both in terms of security and politics. There are parties benefiting from this, including the Almer faction which also lacks an official decree and held a Provincial Meeting on September 24 at a different location,” said a representative.

According to the representative, the Nizar faction is based in Bandung, while the Almer faction is based in Bogor. Both claim legitimacy from their respective Provincial Meetings. The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce must immediately make a decision so that businesses don’t become victims of internal conflicts.

“This neglect hinders economic growth. The government is very enthusiastic about building people’s economy, but small problems like this are ignored,” they stated.

The representative emphasized that Chamber leadership must be built based on organizational rules, not political connections. Regarding demands to the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce, they requested the leadership decree for West Java Chamber of Commerce to be issued immediately.

The representative claimed support from 16 regencies/cities, and according to organizational bylaws, a Provincial Meeting is considered valid if supported by 50% + 1 of the 27 regencies/cities.

“We already have more than that. However, the only party that can issue the decree is the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce. This neglect is dangerous economically, politically, and for the Chamber organization itself,” they emphasized.

They requested the Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce to immediately intervene and resolve the dispute. Additionally, the West Java Chamber of Commerce building should not be occupied by any party before the leadership dispute is resolved by the Central Chamber. “Before the decree is issued, this office should not be occupied by anyone,” they concluded.
