Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) has confirmed that it has imposed sanctions on 16 suspected perpetrators of sexual harassment through a digital chat group.

This was stated by the Rector of IPB, Dr. Alim Setiawan Slamet, S.TP., M.Si., when met in Tugumukti Village, Cisarua District, West Bandung Regency, on Friday (4/24/2026).

He said that since receiving the report regarding the sexual harassment incident, the university immediately took swift action to resolve the issue.

“Since the report was received, we did not question it; we believe the victim’s report and we processed it to be able to prove the incident,” he said.

He added that to follow up on the report, the university immediately coordinated with various parties, including conducting examinations of the reporters.

“So all reported parties have been examined. We also coordinated by involving the Student Executive Board (BEM) and others, and also listened to aspirations,” he added.

He further stated that in the process of resolving the case, the university adhered to applicable regulations.

“We processed everything, and 16 people were proven guilty and have been sanctioned,” he said.

“The sanctions, according to regulations, are a one-semester suspension, and there are also other sanctions that we want to be educational. There are social services that must be performed and also increased literacy,” he added.

He hopes that the students involved and found guilty will realize their mistakes and now have a better understanding, as the mistake may have arisen from an incomplete understanding of the spectrum of violence.

“In fact, the spectrum of sexual violence is broad and must be understood. So that when they return to active status, the guilty students can be better; that is what we are doing,” he concluded.
