Bripka Cecep Saepul Bahri experienced breathing difficulties after managing crowds at a free meal event during the wedding celebration of West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi’s child, Maula Akbar, and Garut Deputy Regent Putri Karlina.

The event, held at the Garut Pendopo on Friday afternoon, ended in chaos. The crowd pushed and scrambled to enter the Pendopo area.

Due to exhaustion while performing security duties, the police officer fainted and passed away. Cecep was one of the Garut Police officers assigned to secure the event.

As a tribute, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo posthumously promoted the late Bripka Cecep Saeful Bahri to First Inspector (Aipda) through Decree No. Kep/1085/VII/2025.

The promotion was handed over directly by West Java Police Chief Inspector General Rudi Setiawan at the mourning residence in Guntur Residen Housing No. 24, Garut Regency.

“This posthumous promotion is a form of respect and appreciation for the dedication and sacrifice of the deceased in carrying out his duties,” said Rudi in a statement received on Sunday.

Rudi expressed condolences for the passing of the deceased while serving the nation.

“On behalf of myself and the state, I convey my deepest condolences to the family of the deceased. May those left behind be granted strength and patience.”

“Rest assured that God has a good plan for what happened and will grant him a worthy place by Allah’s side.”

During the occasion, Rudi also provided financial assistance to the bereaved family. “May this assistance be beneficial,” he said.

Salvo Shots Accompany Bripka Cecep to His Final Resting Place

The sound of salvo gunfire pierced the silent night. The shots were fired as a final tribute to Bripka Cecep Saepul Bahri for his dedication and service in the police force.

Cecep passed away during a free meal event held as part of the wedding celebration of West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi’s child and Garut Deputy Regent Putri Karlina on Friday afternoon.

Cecep was one of three fatalities at the event. The officer, holding the rank of Brigadier Chief, was buried at the Sukadana Gandok Public Cemetery in Kota Kulon Village, Garut Regency, that evening.

A somber atmosphere enveloped the funeral of the Garut Police officer. The ceremony proceeded solemnly, attended by family, relatives, and police officials.

“This final tribute represents the institution’s appreciation for the deceased’s service, who fell while securing the public celebration in Garut Regency,” said West Java Police Chief Inspector General Rudi Setiawan in a press release on Sunday.

Rudi stated that Bripka Cecep died while performing his noble duty of securing the public event in Garut Regency. He passed away while assisting the public, succumbing to exhaustion and weakness.

During the security operation, the deceased demonstrated exceptional loyalty amid the crowded situation.

“This is our tribute to officers who have given their best service until their last breath. The late Bripka Cecep is a true hero,” said Rudi.

According to Rudi, Bripka Cecep’s dedication and bravery will always be remembered and serve as an inspiration for all West Java Police personnel.

In the emotional atmosphere, Rudi expressed condolences to the bereaved family and assured that the institution would continue to provide attention and support.
