Bandung Regent Dadang Supriatna is preparing a special Task Force (Satgas) to conduct monitoring ahead of the XV West Java Provincial Sports Week (Porprov) in 2026.
The Task Force will begin its duties in September 2025 with a regular agenda of evaluating training progress, physical condition, and mental readiness of athletes from Bandung Regency.
This monitoring is described as a strategic step to ensure preparedness for the largest sporting event in West Java.
“We formed this Task Force to ensure targeted coaching. Field data will be used as evaluation material to formulate medal achievement strategies,” said Regent Dadang.
According to him, sports disciplines with potential for gold medals will receive special attention. However, he emphasized that coaching will remain equitable so that every event participated in by Bandung Regency can be competitive.
The Regent also reminded about funding challenges. He acknowledged that sports development funding is limited, but the Bandung Regency Government is striving to cover the shortfall with third-party support and adjustments to the regional budget.
“Athlete motivation must not slacken just because of funds. We will find solutions so that all basic coaching needs are still met,” he added.
In addition to the Task Force, the Bandung Regency Government is reintroducing the “Foster Parent” program for sports disciplines.
“This scheme is expected to attract participation from the community and private sector in providing moral and material support for athletes,” he stated.
Dadang also requested that KONI Bandung Regency expand synergy with schools, sports clubs, and communities to build a sustainable coaching system.
According to him, Porprov is only the peak achievement of a long process that must not stop.
“With the hard work of the Task Force, support from KONI, and collaboration from all parties, I am confident that Bandung Regency can once again win the overall championship at West Java Porprov 2026,” he affirmed.
