BANDUNG – Persib Bandung made history by achieving a three-peat or hat-trick of Liga 1 Indonesia championships this season. A victory parade was held to celebrate the success of the club nicknamed Maung Bandung.

However, several incidents during the championship parade tarnished the achievements of the pride of West Java. According to the latest data, there were 122 accident victims and 2 deaths suspected to be related to alcohol consumption.

This has raised concerns for the Chairman of the Bandung City Regional House of Representatives, Edwin Senjaya. Moreover, based on information and news circulating on social media, many unpleasant incidents occurred during the victory parade.

“Examples of their behavior towards the players and coaches were clearly very disturbing and made them uncomfortable. Then there were various brawls among fellow supporters. There was also damage to public facilities and various traffic violations,” he said at the Bandung City Regional House of Representatives building on Tuesday, May 26, 2026.

Edwin mentioned that out of the 122 accident incidents, 70 involved residents of Bandung City. Some of the victims had to be treated in hospitals, although some have returned home and are undergoing outpatient care.

“But what concerns me most is the violence that ultimately resulted in loss of life. I see something wrong in our society. Why can fellow supporters, fellow residents of Bandung City, even fellow residents of West Java, hurt each other to the point of taking someone’s life?” he said.

He sees a degradation of morals and character among today’s young generation, leading to disgraceful incidents that tend to violate the law. He even found a video showing several young women uttering inappropriate words.

Edwin emphasized that this issue should be a major concern for the Bandung City Government, particularly the Education Office.

“This must be an evaluation for the Education Office: whether the curriculum provided, especially subjects like Character Education, Religion, and Civics Education, receives the proper portion or not,” he stressed.

Furthermore, Edwin believes that several violent acts were triggered by the consumption of alcohol and illegal drugs. Therefore, he asked the Bandung City Government and security forces to pay special attention to the circulation of these two illicit items.

“Many of these disturbing behaviors are also clearly due to the perpetrators using illegal drinks, illegal alcohol, or using illegal drugs. Going forward, this issue must be a shared concern. We see that the circulation of illegal drugs in Bandung City must also be more strictly controlled,” he said.

The Chairman of the Golkar Party Regional Leadership Council for Bandung City also highlighted irresponsible individuals whose intention was purely to cause chaos, not to genuinely celebrate Persib’s victory like the majority of people who attended the parade. These individuals are strongly suspected of triggering the unwanted incidents during the event.

“This must be an evaluation for all of us, such as what standard procedures should be taken by the organizing committee in the future if similar events are held again. And to the relevant authorities, I urge attention to security aspects,” he appealed.

On the other hand, Edwin congratulated Persib Bandung for successfully winning the Liga 1 championship three times in a row.

“I am grateful and congratulate Persib on their achievement; our pride club has recorded a hat-trick. And this is the first time in the history of the Indonesian League. Hopefully, this achievement can be maintained and improved in the future,” he concluded.
