Every month, a full 173 crore rupees are spent on workers’ midday meals, but what reaches their plates? This question troubles every taxpayer’s mind. Through collusion between government officials and contractors, funds for these schemes are inflated, paperwork figures are increased, and the poor workers’ stomachs are robbed. Politicians only give speeches on this, but in practice, their willpower for investigation and fixing accountability is not visible. Since 2022, despite continuously increasing costs, there has been no change in workers’ plates, but officials’ pockets have been filled extra. The High Court’s demand for an inquiry into this matter means judicial validation of public suspicion. If officials and politicians do not stop this loot, this feast of crores in the name of workers will not stop.
Today, gym shops have opened in alleys, but they lack trained trainers, proper facilities, and complete absence of control. Youth are shown dreams in the name of fitness, but wrong exercises can lead to lifelong trouble or life-threatening risks. There is no control over fee charging, while serious information emerges about the use of illegal drugs and supplements in many places. A game with health is ongoing in the name of fitness. Citizens should not put their bodies at risk in such places out of temptation. The government must immediately impose control on these unauthorized gyms, enforce trained trainers and medical criteria mandatorily. Otherwise, the time will come to lose lives in the obsession of building body. Fitness centers are needed, but they must be safe, responsible, and regulated.
The world’s power dynamics are changing. America’s dominance is fading, and organizations like BRICS have created a new order with collective strength. In this changing equation, India’s rise bothers some. Hence, the pillars of our democracy—Election Commission and Judiciary—are being targeted from within and outside. The onslaught of fake narratives, rumors, and misleading news is increasing. The purpose is one: to shake public trust. But it must be remembered that our government is capable and firm. If this system becomes unstable today, no one will come to our help tomorrow. Therefore, patriotic citizens must stay alert from biased propaganda and place rightful trust in the government. If a strong democracy is to be maintained, this is the only way.
After reading Swaminathan Aiyar’s article in the Sunday edition of Times of India, a question settles in the mind—who exactly will pay attention to the decades of suffering citizens face due to the inefficiency of the judiciary? The central government proposed the 130th Constitutional Amendment, attempting to force ministers out of office through imprisonment frameworks. Rejecting this initiative, Aiyar called it “slippery for democracy,” but
