Operation Lotus in the Lok Sabha. The Trinamool Congress in the state assembly has been fractured. Under Ritabrata Banerjee, a ‘real Trinamool’ has been formed. Now, a split has also occurred in the Lok Sabha. Today, Monday, ‘rebel’ MPs submitted a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. After the parliamentary party, a split has now occurred in the Trinamool Congress’s parliamentary party as well. For now, a letter signed by 20 out of 28 MPs has been submitted. It is reported that MP Kakali Ghosh Dastidar led the submission of the letter. But who is behind this ‘Operation Lotus’ in the Lok Sabha? Speculation has begun.

Tonight, Monday, Kakali Ghosh Dastidar gave an interview to an electronic media outlet. There, she stated that the number of ‘rebel’ MPs could increase further. So, is she now leading this event? On that matter, the MP said she wants to work as a worker. In her words, “It is a fight against injustice. A fight against oppression. A fight against underdevelopment. A fight for the interests of the working people. I have come this far fighting that fight.” She further said, “I have come to work for the people, in the interests of the people. Seeing that we could not work for the people, we all decided to sit separately.”
In the afternoon, MP Shatabdi Roy hosted an evening tea party at her Delhi residence. Chief Minister Shubhendu Adhikari appeared at the MP’s home! There, one by one, rebel MPs including Kakali Ghosh Dastidar, Asit Mal, Prasun Banerjee, Bapi Haldar, June Malia, Jagadish Basunia, Kalipada Soren, and Arup Chakraborty arrived.
Not only that, the state’s Chief Minister Shubhendu Adhikari had contacted them. Kakali mentioned that as well in today’s interview with the electronic media. So, is Shubhendu Adhikari behind this ‘Operation Lotus’? That speculation has arisen. Incidentally, the state’s Chief Minister was also in Delhi today. According to sources, this morning, at Union Minister Bhupendra Yadav’s residence, Shatabdi Roy, Abu Taher, Khalilur Rahman, and Asit Mal joined the disgruntled group but raised some of their own issues. Then, in the afternoon, MP Shatabdi Roy hosted an evening tea party at her Delhi residence. To resolve their issues, Chief Minister Shubhendu Adhikari appeared at the MP’s home! There, one by one, rebel MPs including Kakali Ghosh Dastidar, Asit Mal, Prasun Banerjee, Bapi Haldar, June Malia, Jagadish Basunia, Kalipada Soren, and Arup Chakraborty arrived. It is reported that besides resolving issues, several other matters were discussed in that meeting.
In Maharashtra, the NCP and Shiv Sena were similarly fractured. Majority MLAs and MPs broke away from both parties. NCP leader Sharad Pawar and Shiv Sena leader Uddhav Thackeray lost their party symbols. So, is something similar going to happen in the Trinamool Congress? Will Mamata Banerjee lose her symbol? Kakali did not want to say much on that matter. These ‘rebel’ MPs are joining the NDA. So, will they support the bills brought by the BJP in the Lok Sabha? It is reported that several bills will be presented in the Lok Sabha during the monsoon session. Will they support those bills then? That question arose. The MP from Barasat also kept this ambiguous. Let’s see what happens in the future, she said, leaving it speculative.
