The Indian cricket team has begun preparations for the upcoming series against Afghanistan. The team has already arrived in New Chandigarh to play the only Test match. The Test match will start from June 6. After that, the ODI series will begin in Dharamshala on June 13. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will prepare separately elsewhere for that series.

Rohit Sharma did not show up for the fitness test at the BCCI’s Center of Excellence. The Mumbai T20 League started on June 1. The Hitman was present at the matches there. On Tuesday, Rohit did not go to Bengaluru. He has been asked to undergo separate fitness training before the ODI series. Now it has been learned that Rohit Sharma will practice at the modern training facility in Mullanpur from June 9 to 11. Not only him, but Virat Kohli and senior cricketers including Shreyas Iyer will also prepare there. After the camp ends, the team will leave directly for Dharamshala.

Some cricketers who will join the ODI preparations after the Test match may also be in this camp. Young pacer Prince Yadav, initially a net bowler, may later get a chance in the main squad, according to indications. Meanwhile, a final decision on Mohammed Siraj’s participation has not been made yet. The team management is concerned about his workload due to continuous playing for Gujarat Titans in the IPL. A decision on his case will be taken within the next 48 hours. He may be given rest if necessary. In that case, Gurnoor Brar or Aqeib Nabi may get a chance.

Aqeib Nabi has already made a mark in domestic cricket. He played a major role in making Jammu and Kashmir champions by taking 60 wickets in the Ranji Trophy. He is currently on the list of net bowlers, where several other young talents are also waiting for opportunities. However, in the ODI series, the most attention will once again be on Ro-Ko. Rohit is still not fully fit. On the other hand, Kohli is in excellent form. He helped Royal Challengers Bengaluru become champions for the second consecutive time by batting brilliantly in this year’s IPL. It is believed that if he maintains this form, his place in the ODI World Cup team next year will become even stronger.
