Just yesterday, Trinamool councilors Sushanto Ghosh and Arup Chakraborty left their municipal posts, raising several allegations against the party. Sushanto resigned from the post of borough chairman, and Arup resigned from the post of chairman of the municipality’s accounts committee simultaneously. After that, in a press conference, they targeted party chairperson Mamata Banerjee and several high-ranking leaders. They said, “We have to accept the defeat. Even after 24-25 days following the electoral defeat, no minister was seen. For their sake, we could not get close to Mamata Banerjee.” Arup directly asked, where did all the party heavyweights, who have X-Y category security, go after the defeat? Then, significantly, they also thanked the BJP. In this context, Arup sought release from the party spokesperson post today. He stated that he has spoken for the party even in very difficult situations. In many cases, despite lacking strong arguments, he has continued to fulfill the role of party spokesperson.
