India will play two Tests against Sri Lanka. Shubman Gill and the team will travel to the island nation in August this year for these two Tests. This means there is almost no possibility of a series to improve relations with Bangladesh. However, the T20 series against Sri Lanka in December remains uncertain.

The Sri Lanka Premier League will be held in August. After that, Gill and the team will play Tests against Sri Lanka. This series will be part of the World Test Championship. The series could take place between August 15 and August 27. Currently, India’s points percentage is 48.15 after 9 Tests, placing them in fifth position. Therefore, these two Tests will be crucial for qualifying for the final. After the IPL, India will play a Test against Afghanistan, but that is not part of the World Test Championship.

India playing Tests against Sri Lanka means trouble for Bangladesh. Bangladesh did not come to India for the T20 World Cup last year. After the change in government, the Bangladesh board wanted to organize a series to mend relations. Although it was scheduled earlier, the BCCI postponed it twice. Even if the BCB wants, it depends on when India has free time, which is mainly in August. But India agreeing to play Tests against Sri Lanka essentially means the BCCI has said ‘no’ to Bangladesh.
