Palghar, Maharashtra: Four more people have been arrested in connection with the collapse of a building in Palghar district this week, which resulted in the deaths of 17 people. An official provided this information on Saturday. The official stated that the investigation of the incident has been handed over to the crime branch of the Mira-Bhayander Vasai-Virar Police.
On Wednesday night around 12:05 AM, the four-story unauthorized building named Ramabai Apartment in Vijay Nagar, Virar area of Palghar, adjacent to Mumbai, collapsed onto an adjacent vacant house. At least 17 people, including two children, died in the incident.
The crime branch has arrested two women who owned the land and their husbands who collected rent from the residents of the building constructed on it. Police had initially arrested the main accused builder and developer, Nital Sane.

With this, a total of five people have been arrested in this case so far. A minister stated that the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) will provide temporary housing to the residents of the affected building.
