New Delhi, Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha member Derek O’Brien said on Monday that his party chief Mamata Banerjee and national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee have given full support to the online platform ‘Cockroach Janata Party’.

In a post on ‘X’, O’Brien said the Trinamool leadership is still focused on “fighting the good fight.” He stated, “There were purposeful meetings throughout the week with Mamata and Abhishek. Both are focused on fighting the good fight. The resolve remains. And yes, both expressed their full support for ‘Cockroach’.” After the West Bengal election loss, Mamata Banerjee has been holding continuous strategic and review meetings with senior leaders and legislators to assess this political setback and determine the party’s future direction.

The Cockroach Janata Party, founded by Abhijit Deepke, who lives in Boston, USA, took over social media as soon as it launched on May 16. Its inception followed controversy sparked by Chief Justice Suryakant’s remarks, widely seen as comparing unemployed youth to cockroaches.
