Officials imposed a fine of 10,000 rupees on a person for using drinking water supplied by the Water Board for other purposes. The incident occurred in the Banjara Hills area. According to information received, the Water Board’s Managing Director was passing through Banjara Hills main road. During this, a person associated with the Orange Tree Furniture showroom located on Road Number 12 was seen washing the premises with drinking water. Seeing this, the Managing Director expressed displeasure and warned the concerned person not to use drinking water for other tasks. He instructed officials to issue a notice and impose a fine on the spot. The concerned person was fined 10,000 rupees.

The Managing Director appealed to citizens that drinking water is meant only for drinking and domestic use, and not to misuse it. He warned that if anyone is found misusing drinking water in this manner in the future, strict action will be taken against them. The Managing Director instructed officials to take necessary steps so that city residents do not face any problems regarding water supply. Especially considering the Bakrid festival, the Managing Director held a teleconference today with senior officials. He emphasized that the next 48 hours are very important in view of the Bakrid festival. He gave clear instructions to all officials to work in close coordination to prevent any inconvenience to the public.

Appeal to book through IVRS

The Board informed that due to disruption in the SDC link, SMS services for tanker booking under the Water Board’s jurisdiction have been temporarily interrupted. In view of this situation, the Water Board advised consumers to use IVRS services for tanker booking until this problem is fully resolved. The Board stated that technical teams have started taking steps on a war footing to fix this problem.
