Kolkata, The internal crisis in the Trinamool Congress deepened on Monday when senior party MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar claimed that about 20 MPs from the party have decided to support the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) at the center.

Kakoli said that Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has been informed of this decision. The Trinamool Congress has 28 members in the Lok Sabha and 12 members in the Rajya Sabha. In a conversation, Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar said that a letter has already been sent to the Lok Sabha Speaker to inform him of the group’s desire to support the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led alliance at the center.

Kakoli said, “About 20 Trinamool MPs, including myself, have written to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla to inform him of our decision to support the NDA.” Kakoli claimed that she remains the party’s chief whip in the Lok Sabha. She said the decision was taken after consulting with fellow MPs.

This development comes amid a growing internal crisis within Mamata Banerjee’s party. Recent days have seen open dissent and resignations by senior leaders in the Trinamool Congress. Kakoli said the group has decided to politically align with the NDA.

Kakoli argued that this reflects the people’s mandate. She said, “We have accepted the people’s decision, and we believe our future political path should align with the NDA.” The Trinamool Congress leadership has not yet responded to these claims.
