New Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Lee Jae-myung on his election as President of South Korea on Wednesday.
Modi said on the social media platform ‘X’, “Congratulations to Lee Jae-myung on being elected President of the Republic of Korea (ROK). We are keen to expand and strengthen the India-Korea special strategic partnership by working together.”
The opposition candidate with a liberal ideology, Lee Jae-myung, was elected president on Tuesday night. His victory puts an end to the political turmoil that had been ongoing in South Korea for several months, initiated by the sudden imposition of ‘martial law’ by conservative leader Yoon Suk Yeol.
