Hyderabad: The Hyderabad District Medical and Health Office has urged citizens to take necessary precautions regarding health and hygiene during the rainy season.
During a review meeting held at Yashoda Hospital Auditorium with senior medical officers and GHMC staff, officials emphasized the importance of maintaining environmental cleanliness to prevent waterborne and mosquito-borne diseases. Common illnesses during this season include diarrhea, typhoid, fever, cough, cold, malaria, dengue, chickenpox, and encephalitis. Citizens are advised to stay vigilant and prioritize hygiene.
Health and GHMC staff must coordinate to identify and eliminate mosquito breeding sites, improve drainage systems, and conduct proper fumigation. Residents experiencing health issues should seek immediate medical assistance at nearby government health facilities, where special beds, ORS, and essential medicines are available.

Preventive Measures Against Infectious Diseases During Rainy Season
Officials stated that preventive measures against infectious diseases have been implemented since the start of the rainy season in June. These include larval control, weekly “Dry Day” initiatives, and awareness campaigns in hospitals and urban health centers. Health workers are conducting fever and larval surveys while educating the public on preventive measures.
Women health workers, ASHA volunteers, and malaria staff are conducting door-to-door surveys to identify fever cases and provide timely treatment. The public is advised to protect themselves from airborne infections like viral fever, influenza, and conjunctivitis.
