The impact of the growing fuel crisis, continuously rising petrol and diesel prices, and the appeal to save fuel and adopt electric vehicles is now clearly visible in the market of the capital city, Patna.
People’s awareness of electric vehicles (EVs) in the city has increased rapidly. The situation is such that now, on average, 40 to 50 four-wheelers and 60 to 70 two-wheeler electric vehicles are being sold in the market every day.
Especially young people, working professionals, and women are showing more interest in electric vehicles. The situation is such that there is a waiting list of 80-100 vehicles in companies due to demand.
Dealers say that the continuous increase in petrol prices, low maintenance costs, growing awareness about environmental protection, and government incentive schemes have given new momentum to the EV market.
Many companies are also offering facilities like easy financing, exchange offers, and free charging, which has further increased customer attraction.

Cars with a range of 400 to 600 kilometers become the preferred choice
Leader Mahindra’s Sandeep Saras said that the company’s electric cars are priced between 16 lakh and 32 lakh rupees. Some models run up to about 600 kilometers on a single charge.
He mentioned that with a high-speed charger, the vehicles are fully charged in 40 to 80 minutes. Currently, 10 to 15 people are seriously inquiring about them daily. While dozens of bookings are pending.
Customer enthusiasm has also increased regarding Maruti Suzuki’s electric cars. Ashok Priyadarshi of Alankar Motors said that the car with a 61 kWh battery provides a backup of approximately 540 kilometers, while the car with a 49 kWh battery runs for about 450 kilometers.
Sharp surge in sales of two-wheeler EVs
Not just cars, but sales of electric scooters have also recorded a sharp increase. Amarjeet Singh, associated with TVS Motors, said that earlier only one or two electric scooters were sold daily with difficulty, whereas now dozens of vehicles are being sold every day.
He said that if sufficient stock is available, all vehicles are sold within two to three days. Dealers say that people have now started to understand that electric vehicles prove to be economical in the long run.
This is why the EV market in the capital is continuously expanding, and its demand is expected to increase further in the coming days.
