Greater Bengaluru Local Planning Area

The Greater Bengaluru Local Planning Area refers to the expanded administrative and planning region surrounding the city of Bengaluru (formerly Bangalore) in Karnataka, India. Established to manage the rapid urbanization and sprawl of the city, it was formalized through the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) and later the Bengaluru Metropolitan Region Development Authority (BMRDA), with roots in the city’s post-independence growth as a technology hub. This area encompasses the core city and surrounding towns, aiming to coordinate infrastructure, zoning, and sustainable development across a vast, historically agrarian landscape transformed by the IT boom.

Hudson Circle

Hudson Circle, located in Troy, New York, is a historic traffic circle and park named after Henry Hudson, the English explorer who navigated the Hudson River in 1609. The site features a central monument honoring the victims of the 1918 influenza pandemic, erected in the 1920s, and is surrounded by notable 19th-century architecture. It serves as a key landmark in Troy’s downtown area, reflecting the city’s rich industrial and cultural heritage.

Bengaluru

Bengaluru, also known as Bangalore, is the capital of India’s Karnataka state and a major hub for technology and innovation, earning it the nickname “Silicon Valley of India.” Founded in 1537 by local chieftain Kempe Gowda I, the city grew from a fortified settlement into a dynamic metropolis, later influenced by the Vijayanagara Empire, the British Raj, and post-independence industrial development. Today, it is celebrated for its vibrant culture, lush gardens, and diverse population, blending historical landmarks like the Bangalore Palace with modern IT parks.
