• AIIMS Doctors’ Unique Discovery: Accurate Cancer Diagnosis in 2 Hours, Costs Less Than 100 Rupees

AIIMS doctors have made a unique discovery. It makes diagnosing serious diseases like cancer very simple and affordable. This method not only saves time, but everyone can use it easily. Recently, it was also selected as a top innovation in nationwide competitions. Let’s find out what this special technology is.

AIIMS Doctors’ Unique Discovery: Accurate Cancer Diagnosis in 2 Hours, Costs Less Than 100 Rupees

Detecting dangerous diseases like cancer usually requires machines costing millions of rupees and takes many days. But doctors at AIIMS Delhi have prepared a test kit that will identify cancer in just 2 hours. Most importantly, the cost of this kit has been kept below 100 rupees, making it easily accessible to everyone.

This kit is a nanotechnology-based visual diagnostic kit, which can immediately detect HPV-induced cervical cancer, especially high-risk in women. This kit recently won first place among 3100 innovations from across the country in the National Bio Entrepreneurship Competition (NBEC) 2025. The team was awarded 6 lakh rupees and funding to further develop it as a startup.

Results in 2 Hours and 100% Accuracy

So far, nearly 400 patients have been tested with this kit, and all have received 100% accurate results. Testing with machines takes many days, but this kit provides a report in just 2 hours. Extremely affordable and simple, this kit is so easy that people with medical training, nurses, or ASHA workers can also use it. If women understand the process, they can even test themselves with its help.

An Affordable Alternative to Expensive Tests

The machines used for cervical cancer testing cost around 30 lakh rupees, and patients have to spend about 6000 rupees to get this test done in the private sector. At the same time, even in government institutions like AIIMS, this test costs up to 2000-3000 rupees. In comparison, this new kit is very affordable and can be made available in rural areas in the near future.

Number One Out of 3100

In the NBEC 2025 competition, this kit was declared the top innovation among 3100 applications received from 34 states. If funding continues to be received on time, this kit will be available to the public in the market within the next 4 years.
