Over 7.1 Million Rupees Worth of Goods Seized; Mastermind on the Run, Builder and Trader Roles Under Investigation

Surat. The Surat City Special Operations Group (SOG) has uncovered a gang involved in stealing iron rods, carrying out a major operation in the Dindoli area.

Police arrested four suspects red-handed near Bhagyalaxmi Society, seizing approximately 59,910 kilograms (about 60 tons) of TMT rods.

In this operation, police confiscated goods worth around 7.152 million rupees, including iron rods valued at 3.295 million rupees, a trailer worth 3.3 million rupees, a four-wheeler worth 500,000 rupees, mobile phones, and cash.

The arrested suspects include Bheraram Rekharam Jakhar (from Barmer, Rajasthan, truck driver), Nimbaram Baboolal Jakhar (from Barmer, cleaner), Pradeep Sadabrij Tripathi (from Dindoli, originally Uttar Pradesh), and Pradeep Kishanlal Sharma (from Dindoli, originally Rajasthan). According to police, these individuals were engaged in stealing rods used in construction and selling them in the market.

Investigation revealed that the suspects would remove large quantities of rods from shipments during transport and attempt to sell them at low prices. Involvement of other individuals linked to the transport network is also suspected.

DCP Rajdeepsinh Nakum stated that this was a well-planned conspiracy and that the suspects were caught during a live raid.

The police investigation has also revealed that the main masterminds of this gang are Jeetu and Rajan Tiwari, who are currently on the run. Police are searching for them, and their capture is expected to uncover the entire network.

A case has been registered against all four suspects at the Dindoli police station under various sections of the Indian Penal Code. They will be taken into police custody for questioning, which may provide information about other gang members and past incidents.

A key aspect of this case now is which traders or builders the stolen goods were being sold to. Police have made it clear that if any buyer is found guilty during the investigation, strict legal action will be taken against them as well.
