The Engineering Department of Western Railway has successfully completed the repair and strengthening work on Bridge No. 130, located in the Dabhoi–Chhota Udepur section. This work has significantly enhanced the structural strength and long-term safety of the bridge.
According to a press release, this bridge was affected by severe scouring in the riverbed, which exposed piles beneath the pile caps, posing a challenge to structural safety.
Key strengthening work included cleaning and grouting of the exposed piles, and installation of 1.4-meter liners. Eight additional piles were constructed for each pier (80 in total). Pier jacketing and integration of new piles with the existing foundation were also carried out.
This work was completed with great care, high quality standards, and safety measures. Processes such as pile cleaning, inspection, grouting, and integrity testing were ensured to certify the structure’s strength.
This strengthening work has increased the load-bearing capacity of the bridge, making train operations in this section safer and smoother. This achievement reflects Indian Railways’ commitment to safety, modernization, and passenger service.
