Residential and lifestyle infrastructure deemed necessary in rapidly developing industrial hub, emphasis placed on accelerating projects to meet growing industry demand

Dholera. Gujarat’s Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi visited the Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR) on Saturday to review ongoing development works. He also assessed the supporting infrastructure being prepared in the rapidly emerging industrial hub and evaluated preparations for the area’s potential growth.

During this, the Chief Minister’s advisor S.S. Rathore, Industry Secretary Mamta Verma, Tourism Secretary and Managing Director of DICDL Kuldeep Arya, and Joint Managing Director Rushin Bhatt were also present.

Chairman of GAP Group Gopal Goswami, Managing Director Ambarish Parajia, and Executive Director Ravi Patel welcomed the Deputy Chief Minister. On this occasion, they presented a pledge letter, a conch, and a copy of the Bhagavad Gita, which was described as a symbol of the collective resolve to contribute to the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India).

During the visit, the delegation inspected the Akhilam Township project of GAP Group, located in Dholera’s activation area. Company officials provided detailed information about the project’s progress and its role in meeting the residential and commercial needs of the area. The delegation also reviewed facilities being developed in the township, such as studio apartments, co-working spaces, and a food court.

Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi praised the facilities being developed under the project and stated that creating quality residential and lifestyle infrastructure is essential to support rapid industrialization.

He encouraged developers to accelerate project implementation to meet the growing demand from industries starting operations in Dholera.

He also said that due to continuously increasing investment and industrial activities in the area, there is likely to be a significant rise in demand for ready-to-move homes in Dholera in the near future.

During the site visit, officials of GAP Group also informed the delegation about the construction of the largest RCC raft foundation being prepared for residential development in Dholera. They also explained in detail the engineering capabilities being used in the project and the large-scale construction work underway.

Managing Director of GAP Group, Ambarish Parajia, said that this visit by the Deputy Chief Minister and senior government officials reflects the government’s increasing focus on Dholera’s development.

He stated that such collaboration and dialogue encourage development activities and investors, strengthening confidence in the ecosystem being developed.

He said that GAP Group is committed to preparing quality infrastructure to develop Dholera as a major industrial and urban center.

Meanwhile, Chairman of GAP Group, Gopal Goswami, said that Dholera is an important project towards realizing the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the aspirations of ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India).

He stated that GAP Group’s vision aligns with the national goal of ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’ and, through projects like Akhilam, the company is working to accelerate the area’s economic development by preparing residential, commercial, and social infrastructure.

Notably, interest from industries and investors in Dholera is continuously increasing. In this context, strengthening residential, commercial, and social infrastructure is expected to further accelerate the next phase of development in the area.

Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR)

Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR) is a large-scale greenfield smart city and industrial hub being developed in Gujarat, India, as part of the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) project. Conceived in 2009 and approved in 2011, it is designed to be a global manufacturing and trading center with modern infrastructure, and it gained further attention as the site where Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated key development projects in 2024. Despite ambitious plans, the region has faced challenges with delayed implementation and limited initial investment, though it remains a flagship initiative for India’s urban and industrial development.

Akhilam Township

Akhilam Township is a historic residential area in Chennai, India, developed in the early 20th century to provide housing for Indian professionals and families, reflecting the city’s colonial-era urban planning. Named after the Akhilam family, who were prominent local landowners, the township features distinctive architecture blending traditional Tamil styles with British influences. Over time, it has evolved into a vibrant neighborhood known for its cultural diversity and community spirit.

Bhagavad Gita

Dholera’s activation area

Dholera’s activation area is the initial phase of the Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR) in Gujarat, India, a flagship smart city project under the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor. Envisioned as a model for sustainable urban development, this 22.5-square-kilometer zone is designed with advanced infrastructure, including smart grids and efficient waste management. Its development began in the 2010s, representing a key step in transforming the region into a global manufacturing and logistics hub.
