Application Submitted to Municipal Commissioner Regarding Pirana Dumpsite Issue

Ahmedabad/Gujarat: The Ahmedabad City Committee of the Aam Aadmi Party has submitted an application to the Ahmedabad Municipal Commissioner concerning the failure to remove the garbage mountain at the Pirana dump site on time, despite orders from the National Green Tribunal. Office bearers of the city committee were present on this occasion. The request from the Aam Aadmi Party’s Ahmedabad City Committee stated that the National Green Tribunal (NGT) had clearly ordered the complete removal of the garbage mountain accumulated for years at the Pirana dumpsite in Ahmedabad city by the year 2021. However, it is regrettable to note that only about 50% of the work appears to have been completed to date. The delay in disposing of the remaining waste is causing serious health impacts on citizens living in the surrounding areas. Foul odor, air pollution, and incidents of fire have created a serious situation for the environment and public health.

The demands of the Aam Aadmi Party are: 1. A time-bound plan should be announced to immediately complete the remaining work at the Pirana dumpsite. 2. A public account of the work done so far and details of the expenditure should be made public. 3. Health check-up camps and necessary health facilities should be made available for citizens living in the surrounding areas. 4. A scientific waste management system should be implemented to prevent such a situation from arising in the future. The Aam Aadmi Party requested immediate and effective steps to protect the health of citizens and the environment.
