Over 1,800 Students Participate; Winners to Represent Gujarat at National Conference
Surat. The 22nd Biennial Conference organized by the Gujarat State Unit of the Trained Nurses Association of India (TNAI) and the Student Nurses Association (SNA) was successfully held at BRG Building, Ektanagar.
The two-day grand conference concluded under the chairmanship of the Vice-Chancellor of Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, Kishore Singh Chawda. Over 1,800 nursing students and faculty members participated in the event.
During the conference, students took part in various competitions such as volleyball, cricket, poster presentations, paper presentations, and beauty concept creation. Outstanding performers were awarded certificates, trophies, and mementos. These winning students will now represent Gujarat at the national-level conference to be held in Pune, Maharashtra, in November.
Participants also observed various development projects in Ektanagar and presented social awareness campaigns on themes like “Water is Tomorrow,” “Conserve Rainwater,” and “Organ Donation” through posters.
In his inaugural speech, the Vice-Chancellor said, “The services rendered by nursing staff and doctors during the COVID-19 pandemic have been an inspiration for the nation. By serving patients, you have set the highest example of humanity.”
He encouraged students to treat nursing as a profession of service and dedication and congratulated their parents for supporting this noble cause. He also commended the entire team for making the conference a success.
Narayan Madhu, Additional Collector of the Statue of Unity (SOU), shared insights on the National Education Policy-2020 and SOU projects through a PowerPoint presentation. He stated that the conference was not just a competitive platform but also an opportunity for learning and self-development. He also invited all students and their families to visit Kevadia again.
Iqbal Kadiwala, Vice-President of the Gujarat Nursing Council, motivated students by saying, “Students are our inspiration. Gujarat has a strong framework for nursing education, and such conferences elevate students’ morale and skills to new heights.”
The event saw participation from INC and Nursing Council members, volunteers, and a large number of students.
The conference not only provided a competitive platform for nursing students but also strengthened the spirit of service, leadership, and awareness. The organizing team from Surat played a commendable role in the event’s success.
BRG Building
The BRG Building (also known as the Bankers’ Row Building) is a historic commercial structure located in downtown Los Angeles, California. Built in 1905, it exemplifies early 20th-century Beaux-Arts architecture and was once a hub for financial institutions during LA’s early banking boom. Ektanagar
Ektanagar, also known as Jaipur, is the capital city of Rajasthan, India, founded in 1727 by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II. Known as the “Pink City” for its distinctive terracotta-painted buildings, it was one of India’s first planned cities, designed with a grid layout influenced by Vedic architecture. Veer Narmad South Gujarat University
Veer Narmad South Gujarat University (VNSGU), located in Surat, Gujarat, India, was established in 1965 and named after the Gujarati poet and scholar Veer Narmad. It is a prominent public university offering a wide range of undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs. Known for its contributions to education and research, VNSGU plays a key role in the academic and cultural development of South Gujarat.
Statue of Unity (SOU)
The **Statue of Unity (SOU)**, located in Gujarat, India, is the world’s tallest statue, standing at 182 meters (597 feet). It honors Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, a key leader in India’s independence movement and the country’s first Deputy Prime Minister. Inaugurated in 2018, the statue symbolizes national unity and overlooks the Narmada River, attracting tourists while celebrating Patel’s legacy of integrating India’s princely states.
Kevadia

Gujarat Nursing Council
The Gujarat Nursing Council (GNC) is a statutory body established under the Gujarat Nurses, Midwives, and Health Visitors Act to regulate nursing education and practice in Gujarat. Founded to maintain professional standards, it oversees the registration, licensing, and training of nurses in the state. The council plays a key role in ensuring quality healthcare by upholding ethical and educational guidelines for nursing professionals.
