The Directorate of General Criminal Investigation (Ditreskrimum) of the North Sumatra Regional Police (Polda Sumut) uncovered a case of kidnapping and murder involving SSL, a member of a mass organization in Medan, whose body was found dumped in the middle of the sea in Bireuen waters, Aceh.

Seven suspects were successfully arrested, while the main perpetrator is still at large.

The incident occurred on Tuesday (8/4/2025), around 3:00 AM local time, in the parking lot of Blue Star Discotheque on Binjai Road, Emplasmen Kwala Mencirim, Sei Bingai District, Binjai City.

The victim was ambushed by the perpetrators, stabbed, and then placed in the trunk of a sedan before being taken to Aceh and thrown into the sea.

The victim, SSL (35), was a resident of Medan Maimun, Medan City. Police have arrested seven suspects: M (the executor), AFP, SP, ZI, II, A, and AB. The mastermind remains a fugitive (DPO).

« The identity is already known, and the perpetrator will be caught sooner or later. We urge the suspect to surrender immediately, » said the Director of Ditreskrimum Polda Sumut.

The motive for the murder stemmed from a drug-related debt collection. Iskandar Daut, the mastermind, ordered his subordinates to kidnap and kill the victim.

Based on the investigation, the perpetrators first visited the victim’s home on the evening of April 6, 2025, but failed to locate him.

Two days later, M received information that the victim was at Blue Star Discotheque. The suspects then slashed the victim’s car tires, intercepted him, and stabbed his thigh with a bayonet. The victim was then forced into the car trunk and taken to Bireuen, Aceh.

There, other accomplices were waiting to dump the victim’s body into the sea. Before disposal, the body was wrapped in a sack, weighted with stones, and transported by boat to the middle of the sea near Pante Rheng, Samalanga District, Bireuen Regency.

Polda Sumut acted swiftly after receiving a report from the victim’s wife on April 25, 2025. The Jatanras team of Ditreskrimum conducted an intensive investigation, leading to the arrest of eight suspects in various locations, including Langsa, East Aceh, and the Helvet toll gate in Medan.

Evidence seized included a Honda Civic, a motorcycle, sharp weapons, the perpetrators’ clothing, and mobile phones.

The suspects face charges under Article 328 of the Criminal Code (kidnapping, punishable by up to 12 years in prison) and Article 338 (murder, punishable by up to 15 years in prison).

“This case demonstrates Polda Sumut’s commitment to combating serious crimes, even when perpetrators attempt to flee across provinces,” the Director emphasized.
