A poacher in Kuban received a suspended sentence and a fine for fishing worth 900,000 rubles.

A poacher, who was illegally fishing using gillnets, was detained in Primorsko-Akhtarsk by the border control authorities.

According to the investigation, last October, a man using a small boat placed seven gillnets in the waters of the Beisugsky estuary, Yasensky bay, and the Sea of Azov. These fishing gears are prohibited for recreational fishing in the Azov-Black Sea fishing basin.

Using these nets, the offender illegally caught 830 shemayas, 74 pikes, 15 perches, two sturgeons, and one flounder. The damage caused to the aquatic biological resources amounted to 909,397 rubles.

The poacher was detained on the shore. A criminal case was initiated against the suspect for illegal extraction of aquatic biological resources.
