The latest ranking of desired migration destinations has placed Gunma at the top nationwide. It has been a popular migration destination due to its easy access to Tokyo, but it has finally surpassed the usual first-place holder.
Every morning, she rushes to the JR platform for her daily commute. Once she boards her usual train during the 8 o’clock hour and secures a seat, she takes a moment to relax.
“If you commute by Shinkansen, you can get a seat,” she says. It takes about 50 minutes to her destination. Sometimes she uses this time for work, and other times she checks out destinations for her next day off.
Switching to the subway, she heads toward the office. The commute from home to work takes about an hour and a half. She says the extended commute time doesn’t bother her.
